Personalized Physical Therapy to Help You Get Back to What Matters

Pain, an injury, or surgery can affect more than how you move. It can interfere with work, sleep, exercise, time with family, and the activities you enjoy.

BioMotion provides physical therapy Schertz residents rely on, built around your symptoms, movement, medical history, and personal goals. Our licensed physical therapists use evidence-based treatment, hands-on care, strengthening, mobility work, and movement retraining to relieve pain and address factors that may be contributing to your pain or limitations.

The goal is not to hand every patient the same exercise sheet. It is to understand what is keeping you from moving the way you want to and build a personalized plan that progresses as you improve and helps you achieve your goals.

Friendly & Relationship-Focused Physical Therapists in Schertz

When something keeps hurting, it is easy to fall into a cycle of resting, taking pain medication, avoiding certain activities, and hoping the problem eventually goes away. Those approaches may provide temporary relief, but they do not always address the strength, mobility, movement, or activity-related factors contributing to the problem.

At BioMotion, we take the time to understand what you are experiencing and what you want to get back to doing.

Your physical therapist may evaluate your mobility, strength, movement patterns, balance, flexibility, and functional limitations before developing your treatment plan. Our team is committed to identifying the root cause of your symptoms before treating them. As you progress, your therapist can adjust your exercises and treatment to continue challenging you appropriately.

Our approach may include:

  • Hands-on manual therapy techniques
  • Strength and mobility exercises
  • Movement retraining
  • Balance and stability work
  • Postural training
  • Sport- or activity-specific rehabilitation
  • Education to help you better understand your condition and recovery, with customized home exercise programs to support healing between visits

What Do You Want to Get Back To?

Every patient comes to physical therapy for a different reason. Some are tired of dealing with pain every day. Others are recovering after surgery, trying to return to a sport, or dealing with an injury that keeps coming back.

Move Through Your Day More Comfortably

Pain can make sitting at work, walking through the store, climbing stairs, sleeping, or even standing for long periods more difficult. Physical therapy can help alleviate pain, restore mobility, and identify limitations in strength, joint mobility, and movement that may be contributing to those challenges.

Recover After Surgery or Injury

Surgery can repair an injured structure, but strength, motion, confidence, and function still need to be rebuilt afterward. A structured rehabilitation plan provides guidance as you progress through recovery.

Return to Sports and Exercise

Feeling better is not always the same as being ready to return. Sports rehabilitation can help rebuild the strength, mobility, balance, control, and capacity your activity requires before you return to full participation.

Stop Dealing With the Same Injury Over and Over

Recurring injuries may be related to unresolved weakness, mobility restrictions, movement mechanics, workload, or other contributing factors. Your therapist can evaluate the bigger picture and build a plan around what they find.

Explore Conservative Treatment Options

Depending on your condition, physical therapy may be one conservative option to discuss before moving toward more invasive treatment. Your therapist can evaluate your limitations and help you understand whether PT may be appropriate for your situation.

Tried Physical Therapy Before Without Much Progress?

A previous experience with physical therapy does not necessarily mean every PT approach will feel the same.

Some patients come to BioMotion after receiving passive treatments or performing the same exercises visit after visit without understanding how the program connected to their goals.

At BioMotion, treatment begins with an initial consultation based on your symptoms, movement, strength, mobility, medical history, and goals. Your therapist uses that evaluation to develop your plan.

As you improve, that plan can progress with you.

That may mean changing exercises, increasing resistance, advancing movement patterns, introducing more demanding functional activities, or preparing you for the specific demands of work, exercise, or sport.

Physical therapy should be a process that leads to lasting results, not just a handout.

The Team at OPT, is Amazing! Very knowledgeable, very caring. All my treatments have proved beneficial. It had been over a year I wasn't able to bend my right leg, due to several injures, I always has constant swelling. I had no endurance for standing more than 30 mins ,or walking more than 15 mins before the pain and swelling would bother me. After my first couple weeks , I see and feel a hugh difference, I have a ways to go, but am so happy and grateful that I have a Great friendly, caring, very knowledgeable Team working to get me back to enjoying my life again. love it at OPT
Response from the owner:Thank you for your kind words!

Pain is real! Don't put a sign labeled HEAL in the background but then undermine a patient's level of pain. You either believe in your process (treatment plan) or you are wasting everyone's time. I initially liked the clinic and the Christian music. However, I don't deal with unprofessionalism and incompetence. The tall thin blonde woman (not Lexi) needs to be coached on how to deal with medial patients and to listen to the patients. We choose where we get care and if it's not working, we will leave. God is with us!! NOTE: Please remove that nasty cockroach from your overhead light. UPDATE. Changed rating to a 5 Star. 1. The owner took responsibility without blaming the customer. 2. God healed me knee and the staff did show me exercises that assisted with the healing process.
Response from the owner:We are so sorry for your experience as it is out of the norm for us and inexcusable. We are a Christian family owned practice that truly strives for the care and love of people. We are glad you enjoyed the atmosphere. We are investigating what happened on our end. The PT Tech helping you was always previously praised for her good work, professionalism and expertise. She was well trained. We don't know what happened or what the PT Tech your referring to is going through in life as she has not returned to our clinic and will not respond after trying to reach out to her. We feel no matter the case there is no excuse for rudeness or disrespect in anyway. We are here to help people and have been for almost 20 years! We do hope all is well with her but do not know. To address your comment of a roach in our light. I can see why you thought the cricket in our light was a roach. We apologize for that as well. The cricket was removed. Once again mam, we apologize and do work extremely hard in providing a healing atmosphere. To HEAL is a gift from our great king Jesus. I really wish you would have talked to us before putting up your review. I see you have numerous 1 star reviews for many businesses. A 1 star review really does hurt small businesses and families. In any case be well mam and God bless you and your family.

I had been in excruciating pain for over a month. I went to the ER and later to my private doctor only to be treated with pain meds, which did nothing for the cause of the pain. My doctor finally referred me for physical therapy. I went to BioMotion and was seen by Dr. Derek Sanchez. I knew I was in great hands almost immediately! He is so knowledgeable and took a lot of time giving me a thorough assessment. After the first treatment I was already feeling some relief. Lol... I literally called him a "miracle worker"! His staff is excellent and extremely friendly and patient. After just a few weeks of treatment I am feeling great! I wish I would have gone sooner! Life is too short to be in pain. I highly recommend BioMotion and will be telling all my friends in and around Schertz to go there. They are the best!-Debbie M.

This is a Christian based clinic built on integrity and professionalism. They focus on biomechanics of the body to ensure the underlying problem is fixed as opposed to just the symptoms. Derek, Susan and Lauren are extremely knowledgeable PTs (PhD). They are extremely caring and totally focused on patient improvement. The PT assistants are very friendly and responsive in every phase of treatment - they are true pros! This clinic is spotlessly clean (every item is cleaned after use) and well equipped. I have been to several clinics and this is best ever - this is my permanent home for physical therapy in the future. I give this clinic and staff my very highest recommendation!

I developed my SI joint injury while deployed to Iraq 7 years ago. When I contacted the military clinic, I was just diagnosed with Sciatic pain and given Motrin. When the pain become unbearable after 7 years and my leg started getting numb more frequently, I was referred to Derek. Within 20 mins of the consultation he was able to cure 7 years of pain. I was able to walk out of his office that day pain free. The facility is an inviting open envoironment; consistantly cleaned and maintained. The surprising part was how the staff remembered each and every customers name, considering the amount of customers they recieve on a daily basis. I was always referred and acknowledge on a first name basis. To be even more astonished, I was surprised to hear that Derek and his staff is available on the weekened if need be. I could not be more pleased with the physical therapy from this establishment.

Dr. Dereck, Dr. Gene and the whole staff are very knowledgeable and professional. The friendly environment and true concern for patient needs drives individuals to get through their physical therapy needs. I strongly recommend this team to help individuals restore their quality of life. If I require physical therapy in the future, I intend on returning to this team.
Response from the owner:Thank you Mike for writing your awesome review. Was great working with you and know we are here if you need us. God bless you sir.

I went in for therapy at Biomotion Physical Therapy in Schertz, and they provided amazing help and service. Dr. Sanchez worked on my shoulder and I am back to working and able to move around without pain thanks to him and his staff. I went to an other therapy clinic in the same area prior to biomotion and they did not help at all. The service was unsatisfying and the help they tried to provide had no results. I recommend Dr. Sanchez and Biomotion Physical Therapy Team in Schertz over 100%.

My daughter was injured during birth, and has been in either PT or OT her whole life. We moved to Texas 8 years ago and it took us some time to find someone that could grow with us, or my daughter I should say. Over the past 4/5 years my daughter has been treated by Dr. Sanchez and his team. He's knowledgeable, professional, and understands the importance of patient care! I highly recommended that you give this place a try for your PT needs.

I/11/2020 I have had the pleasure of knowing Derek and his employees since I started going to him for physical therapy many years ago when he first started over on Schertz Parkway and have followed him since then. Derek and his staff have shown nothing but professionalism, understanding of my pain and kindness through out my process of healing. Derek is known through the medical community for his knowledge and his dedication to his patients. As for myself, I will always continue to follow him because of his passion for helping people. Thank you Derek and your staff for always helping those in pain.

I'm a USArmy Wounded Warrior from Iraq 2010, I have been going to biomotion Physical Therapy and the progress has been amazing. At first the exercises didn't feel like I was making any progress but when it was time for my evaluation I had tears of joy. I tend to mess up my form when doing exercises and the staff is quick to correct me. If I could give 10 Stars I would, they are all great. If you need Physical Therapy give Biomotion a chance to get your like back on track. My progress has made a beautiful impact on my ability to play with my children and increased family activities. A+ 100%

I have been to BioMotion 3 separate times now and would highly recommend this facility for any physical therapy you would need. I came to them 4 years ago for knee replacement therapy, last year for hip and knee pain, and now for my other knee replacement. The facility is an upbeat place, clean at all times and has christian music playing in the background to greet you. The staff is always so kind and cheerful and is very helpful when you need them. The Physical Therapist are knowledgable and very encouraging. Honestly, I look forward to going 3 days a week and watching my progress. I will always use BioMotion in the future when I need Physical Therapy.

I have known Derrick for over 20 years and can honestly say that he is an honorable Christian man whose knowledge of the body certainly surpasses what I thought I knew about the way each muscle works. So with that being said, every time I need physical therapy I automatically go to him. Derrick has sat down with me and discussed his treatment plan and what would be beneficial to my recovery. He is so knowledgeable with the anatomy of the body which he sits me down to explain. I feel very safe in knowing he has my best interest at heart. With that being said, I would like to acknowledge his staff who i love and respect their knowledge as well as showing me the right way to do the exercises that have been laid out for me. I would like to acknowledge Paloma whose kind personality shines every time you walk through the door. I can't say enough good things about his staff. Thank you Avery for being such a drill sergeant and pure delight on Fridays. You make it fun !! Thank you Derrick and everyone at Bio motion for assisting me in my recovery. God Bless you all Lucretia Adams

Dr. Derek Sanchez, PT, DPT, CSCS

Founder of BioMotion Physical Therapy

Dr. Derek Sanchez’s interest in physical therapy began after experiencing rehabilitation firsthand following a football injury.

He later earned his Master of Physical Therapy from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy.

With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Sanchez has a background in sports medicine, biomechanics, manual therapy, and evidence-based rehabilitation.

His experience as both a clinician and someone who has personally dealt with injuries and surgery influences BioMotion’s patient-centered approach: understand what is limiting the person, create a plan around their goals, and progress treatment as their abilities improve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Physical therapy can be valuable for people dealing with pain, mobility limitations, injuries, weakness, or recovery after surgery. Treatment is designed to improve movement, strength, function, and confidence based on the patient’s individual needs and goals.

A physical therapist can evaluate your limitations and explain whether PT may be appropriate for your situation.

Physical therapy may be appropriate if pain, weakness, stiffness, an injury, or limited mobility is making work, exercise, sleep, or everyday activities more difficult.

A physical therapist can assess your symptoms, medical history, movement, strength, mobility, and goals to determine whether physical therapy is an appropriate next step.

If you are not sure, BioMotion offers free screenings so you can discuss your concerns before scheduling a full evaluation.

Physical therapy begins by identifying the factors that may be contributing to pain, weakness, or movement limitations.

Depending on what your therapist finds, treatment may include strengthening, soft tissue mobilization or joint mobility exercises, manual therapy, balance work, movement retraining, postural education, and activity-specific exercises.

Your treatment plan can be adjusted as your abilities and goals change.

Your session will depend on your condition and treatment plan. It may include hands-on manual therapy, guided exercises, stretching, strengthening, mobility work, balance training, or functional movement practice.

Your therapist will monitor your progress and adjust treatment as appropriate rather than simply repeating the same routine every visit.

Most sessions last approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on your condition and treatment plan.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Athletic shorts, leggings, and a comfortable shirt are usually good choices.

If your therapist is evaluating an area such as your knee, hip, or shoulder, clothing that makes the area easy to access can also be helpful.

Physical therapy is commonly used to help people with arthritis maintain mobility, improve strength, and stay active.

Treatment may include gentle strengthening, mobility exercises, hands-on techniques, and modifications based on the joints involved and the patient’s current abilities.

Physical therapy is commonly used as part of recovery from sports injuries, orthopedic injuries, surgery, and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Your therapist can evaluate the affected area and build a progressive plan designed to restore strength, mobility, movement, and function based on your goals.

Previous physical therapy that did not meet your expectations does not necessarily mean another approach will be the same.

At BioMotion, your treatment plan is based on an individualized assessment and can be progressed as your movement, strength, mobility, and function improve.

If you are unsure whether trying PT again makes sense, a free screening gives you an opportunity to discuss your previous experience and current goals.

Many health insurance plans include physical therapy benefits, but coverage, copays, visit limits, referrals, and authorization requirements vary.

BioMotion’s team can help you review your insurance information and explain what requirements may apply before treatment begins.

Many patients in Texas can begin physical therapy without first obtaining a physician referral.

However, direct-access limitations and insurance requirements may still apply. If your plan requires a referral or authorization, our team can explain what you need before beginning treatment.
